Pest/disease problems on a couple plants
These plants have been faring ok, but have some spots and other stuff that I don't know what is going on. The first, a gramm, is getting better after some physan, while the second, a rhynchostylis, has these weird spots that are getting worse.

I hate spots! They always worry me! Usually, it is some sort of fungus but I hope someone else has a more definite answer.

The third pic down, that is what the leaves (undersides) on some of my Phals looked like, last summer... Took me awhile, but I finally figured out it was mites (apparently not spider mites... I saw no webbing what-so-ever). Treat with a "miticide" it can't be just any insecticide, it has to say it kills mites on the label.
I don't know if the spots on the rest of the (Gramm) leaves are fungus, or mites, but I did have similar spots on an Oncidium Twinkle (that for completely different reasons, (which I'm pretty sure, wasn't mites that killed it, but they could've lead it to its death alot quicker), died last summer). The dark spots had those yellow leading edges to them... Which I know can indicate a spreading problem (either bacterial, or fungal.. But, I'm not sure if some sucking insects leave spots like that, with the yellow leading edge?) Hope someone more experienced with these types comes along... I'm an Oncidium killer :( ETA: Does the Rhynchostylis's spots look like Guignardia to anyone else? (eighth section from the top, entitled "Leaf Spots") Orchid Diseases |
There are spots on the rhynchostylis that look like the third picture down in that section.

Hmmm. I would suggest separating them from the other plants just to be safe. How long have you had the plants?

Spidermites that do'nt make webs…
Brevipalpus. note that I thought spidermites of some sort too. Now it's time to save stuff here, treat at least for acarians and fungus. |
Kingdrag, I've had them since like the end of august/beginning of september I think.
I will treat for fungus in the coming days. |
