First Bloom: Cl. Rebecca Northen 'Grapefruit Pink' x Ctsm. denticulatum 'SVO' AM/AOS
2 Attachment(s)
Just picked this guy up at an orchid open house a month ago, already in spike. First bloom on this seedling cross - love it! The colors in the pictures are pretty dead on. Faint pink tinged white with red-marroon spots and a slight yellow tinge in the base of the lip. Not much of a scent on this one though, just a faint citrus/spice fragrance in the afternoon.

That is ridiculously gorgeous!! This is something that is going to be a must have on my list!

You have a magnificent bloom....I just love the cascading flowers that usually goes upwards on some of the other hybrids....the colors and form of the flowers are very desirable in any collection.

Thank you - I am VERY happy I decided to add this one to my collection of catasetinae. I am really hoping the fragrance intensifies as the blooms senesce; the fragrance coupled with unique flower patterns and colors is what first attracted me to this group. Compliments to Fred Clarke for the foresight to make this cross!

Nearly all Clowesetum hybrids I've seen are gorgeous, and this is no exception. Also nearly all denticulatum hybrids are terrific. Fred Clarke is a class of its own.
Flowers are a bit early for the Clowesia Rebecca Northen parent, who brings also the citrus fragrance. Wish I had this in my greenhouse. |
WOW! Fabulous!

WOW! This is a cross between two of my favorite Catasetinae (Cat. denticulatum and Clow. RTN) and the colors do not disapoint! Too bad the fragrance is reduced though. The RTN has one of the best fragrances in the orchid kingdom!
