Masdevallia floribunda
|
Pretty! I did order this one recently, this should be worm tolerant, so I hope I will get it bloom sometimes too:-)
|
This is a great little Masdie that should be standard to all pluero collections. Really tough to kill compared to other Masdies. It also has wonderful flowers.

Beautiful!

Wonderful,
I have a white variety of this (not called alba, can't remember the variety name). I've not got it to flower though. Pretty much all the other masdies I've had for more than a couple of years are flowering but not this one  |
I had luck with this plant under standard masdie humidity(doubt thats your problem), cool temps (doubt thats your problem also), and it was recieving some moderate direct sunlight during the winter, about 4-5 hours of light dappled southern exposure through my window. Maybe you need to up the lighting a bit?
Unfortunately there was a summer that I went away for about 3 weeks and my plants were exposed to high heat, drought, and that weakend them. All my masdies got scale and my entire Masdie collection save three, died. I wish I had this plant again. I was able to save only M. princeps and M. regina which are still struggling to recover. I've already bought a second M. princeps, but its damn near impossible to get an affordable M. regina anymore. The one I have has been with me for 5-6 years and no flowers yet, from either of them really. |
Thanks Tindo,
My masdies get quite high light for Masdies. Some of them grow compact as a result, the Dryadella I grow with them has to be sheltered or it goes very very red in the leaves (but still does well). I've been told my light is on the high side for Masdies :dunno: Maybe it's the opposite, maybe I should try sheltering this one a little :hmm |
In that case I would try sheltering too.
