Neofinetia falcata Ryokusaihou - variegated bean leaf

My newest acquisition from Seed Engei.

Pictures are larger than real life; actual total leaf-span is 1-1/4". Close examination shows a new leaf just starting. If I understand correctly, Ryokusaihou is a mutation of Ryokuhou (Green Treasure).

It's beautiful, no doubt about it. How slow will this guy grow? So much variegation and a bean leaf, too... I wish you the best in growing it. I think I along with this forum will watch with great interest as this guy grows for you! Did you get it a cool pot?

I wonder if relatively frequent re mounding will help this guy?

Thanks Ryan! Being variegated and a bean leaf, it should be a fairly slow grower I'd imagine, but I was thrilled to see a new leaf just beginning too emerge, which I at first only noticed from the magnified photo.

I haven't bought any pots yet, but in fact I was thinking this one is deserving of one. Definitely going to look into that.

Won't need to remound for a while; it arrived in very fresh sphag (as well it should have for the price).

Jayfar, you really out did yourself with this one!! Like everyone else has remarked, it is a bodasciously beautiful plant.

I add my request to you to be sure and post a MONTHLY picture of this plant, so we can all see how she is doing. In about 2-3 years time, I want you to enter it in that year's Fukiran Society of America Show!! I'm sure you'll win.

Ryan and Ginger, you all need to propose a pot for this specially plant!

Sorry, who died and left ME in charge????

I already know the perfect pot. But I don't want to be presumptuous.

JayFar, have you peeked at the roots? I do fifty percent of the time, but I should 100. Is there insurance for these plants? Lloyd's of London maybe?

That's a stunner. Such beautiful variegation. Love it.

AnonYMouse 08-29-2013 02:02 PM

Beautiful!

I am positively thrilled that you got that Neo. Congrats & please post pics often so we can share in the joy of watching it grow.

As for the pot I will leave that to Ryan he is the expert :)
