Outside for summer!!

Well, its that time of year here in central Texas. Time to get the orchids outside during the day and intermittently for the next couple of weeks, I'll bring them in at night. This year I bought a $10 rack off of craigslist so I can just pick all the plants up at night and put them all out in the morn with one fell swoop. I've also ziptied them down so they won't fall over when being moved or during a windy day.

These are my heat loving orchids such as Catt. walkeriana, nobilior, amethystoglossa, leopoldii and Stan. reichenbachiana. Most of these guys have already proven to love the 100+ degree days here in the summer, but this will be the Catt. amethystoglossa and leopoldii's first summer outside. I'm expecting success!

Oh, that is a dome with carnivorous plant seeds that I planted a few weeks ago. I saw it at a local craft store (of all places) and figured for $10 I would give it a shot. I think it has 4 or 5 different species in it.

I got one of those once the info they gave me was terrible and I did not know how to grow carnovorous plants at the time so they never grew :(

Shoot! Hopefully I can pull it off. And if not, its a cool little dome I can use for growing out of flask orchids.

I actually got most of them to sprout from that kit.
All a long way to adulthood though.

I'm jealous of your weather. I have at least 8 more weeks before I can even think about putting the plants out.

Used to grow some of those when we lived in Houston, but it's the opposite up here.

Wow, feeling a long way off summer here. Not even thinking of putting anything out... snow flurries at lunch time though nothing on the ground :icy
