Dendrobium anosmum blooming
 

I bought it last year.One cane is blooming but not too many flowers. Total 4 buds and right now 2 are open.
Smells nice . Sorry for the fuzzy picture, it was just too windy.

Does it get more blooms with age? Is there anything that will increase number of blooms on a cane? Should I fertilize and water more during summer?

My understanding is cane is not to be cut after blooming. It is cut only when really old,dark and dry. Right?

How long is the cane?
The longer (more nodes) the cane, the more flowers there will be, so growing as large as you can during the growth phase is the main goal.

What did it look like when you fisrt got it? was it in bloom at the time, if so, how many? this will give you an idea as to its potential.

No, do not cut off anything. Canes, even old ones, support the whole plant and cutting any will negatively affect the plant.

If you gave it proper winter rest the blooms will be more....if not: you will have keikis....win win situation

Blooming cane grew to about 14-15 inches, was about 4-5 inch smaller when I received the plant.
There were no blooms on it when I got it, and this was only cane that had potential to bloom. 2 others were dry old canes . Also had a very young cane that is growing well now. Also had a keiki or two, still small but growing steady.
It got some rest during winters(almost 3 weeks complete rest) but after that I admit to misting the canes every now and then .... it did not make any new Keikis .

I will not remove cane per advise.

How do you get the canes to grow longer? Water and Fertilizer? High nitrogen?

Plants are, as all living things are, mostly water.
They need lots of water while growing. So make sure you provide plenty of water while this is growing new canes.
Proper light. Fertilzer, you could try high N, but not really necessary, it's safer to use balanced one.

Your plant is still very young.
Over the years, it will grow longer and longer canes.
Give it time.

patience is needed in growing this plant....as it grows older the canes grow longer and flowers will come out of the nodes some of then might have two buds....

my plant is 7 years old (see photo)the longest cane is 4 ft 5 inches with two canes already lost all its leaves and I gave it a dry winter rest starting December 15th(every other week I spritz the roots so it wont dessicate)....the newer canes are about to lose some leaves, I am waiting for the new buds thats when I will continue regular watering regimen

Wow, that is a beautiful, luscious plant. I can only dream mine does that. Roots and canes on yours are much bigger than mine. I measured the longest cane on mine today, it is 24 inches. I am glad you told me that canes continue to get longer, over the years. Actually my plant has a few more canes it came with but they are less than 10 inches long , brown, dry and never had a leaf on them.
I would like mine to grow like yours and I hope it likes that regular orchid fertilizer I give it once or twice a month.
I run hose spray over mine almost daily. And it dries out quickly.
May be it is too much to ask, but I will try anyway...what type of fertilizer do you use and how often? I wonder if I am under-fertilizing mine.
