Newbie Needs Help to Identify Dendrobium Illness

2 Attachment(s)
Good morning,
I rescued this dendrobium appox 8 mos ago from a big box when they were getting rid of their neglected plants. It was unusual looking so it peaked my interest.
This new shoot is 6 months old. I keep it in a SW facing window and water it 1/ week and have it in a fine bark medium.
Over the past 3 days I have noticed first, the discoloration and today, the black spots. How should I deal with this in order to keep it from spreading to the rest of the stalk? I have never even seen it in bloom so would hate to lose it when it was doing well.

Thank you so much for your help and recommendations!!Attachment 76133

Could it be spidermite or some other parasitic insect?

Does the area smell? I can't tell from pictures but it could be some infection.

You can wipe with alcohol and or cinnamon concoction.

If the area is mushy (looks it to me), remove with a sterile blade. You will need to cut beyond into healthy tissue. Dab the "wound" with ground cinnamon spice.

Some of it does look like an infestation, the dark spots look like an infection.

Thank you for your responses! Unfortunately, one of the lower leaves has fallen off. I am going to try several of your suggestions to diffuse the problem by removing the infected leaves sterily, applying cinnamon to the cuts, and then rubbing it down with alcohol. Fingers crossed.
