orchid stuff to do in Ecuador
 

Hi all! I'm going to Ecuador in July and I have about a week to myself. I was wondering what orchid-related things y'all have done/would do in Ecuador, from visiting reserves to buying plants to anything else in between. Suggestions?

If you aren't already doing this, Ecuagenera sells orchid tours in their orchid reserve. They also sell orchids, so you may be able to pick some up while you're there.

If you are dropping by Colombia in the meantime, Orquideas del Valle also sells tours of their reserves, and they also sell orchids as well.

I agree with the King. Many years ago when ecuagenera wasn't as big as today I made a tour with Mario Portilla. Later we met Pepe and Alex. They all are nice guys and full of knowledge. This country offers so much...not only orchids, also heliconias, bromeliads, hummingbirds, beetles, butterflies.

I recommend the orchid garden in Mindo, a couple of hours from Quito.
