Since I bombed the other two, I need a new one just to repair my orchid dignity...

It IS probably about that time. However personally I don't have the time to get one launched this year having just changed job and also having become heavily involved with the running of my Church since last year.

So... are there any volunteers. It's not difficult but there IS a reasonable amount of work collating peoples suggestions, researching the plants to ensure the fit the chosen project rules, and contacting growers to see which suggestions have enough supply to make them viable.

I'm not sure if Camille or any of the other Moderators are planning to run one, if they are I'm sure they would appreciate anyone who is willing to help. We usually ask those making suggestions to research them but even so there are often missing details that need looking up and other work that needs doing. Camille was a great help to me this time last year but I know she is very very busy at the moment as well.

If anyone is interested in running one, or in helping someone else run one then let me or one of the other moderators know. We don't want lots of projects running if there are lots of volunteers so need to just co-ordinate the kick off of it, but it would be great if someone is up for organising this.

Funny, last week I was thinking about getting a project going and was going to PM you Rosie!! :)

I'm willing to take the lead, but I will need people to help out. I'm a PhD student now, so life can get really hectic when I have experiments that need me to work until late/on weekends.

What would be involved? Being new to the board I'm not familiar with the way the projects are organised, but it sounds like fun.

I'd be willing to help out as well. Just tell me what is needed.

Thanks for the offers!! :)

Most of the work consists in double checking suggested plants for whatever criteria we set (ex: height, temperature) and then checking that the plant can be found in the USA, EU (and Canada if people join) and also below our price limit (usually 20 dollars/euros). The first part is 'easy' to do using the IOSPE website and/or Orchidwiz, but researching availability does take a a lot of time, since dozens of vendors must be checked. As we approach the voting stages, if certain plants are only available at one grower, then they need to be contacted to check how much they have in stock.

When Rosie and I did a project together we had divided the list, so it was more manageable. Since that worked really well, ideally it would be nice to have one person volunteer to be my 'partner' and share most of the work, and then other people pitch in when and where they can.

So let me know if that sort of work sounds manageable!

I won't have the time available to be project partner, but I would certainly like to help out with any other bits and pieces as required. Hopefully I will be able to make myself useful! :)

Or maybe if Paul is still interested, we do it the 3 of us? That way there's one person to help me on the US side, and you in Europe.
