Masdevallia - Thrips?

I have a Masdevallia whose leaves are folded slightly and the leaf surfaces have tiny silver 'scuff marks' all over them. On many other plants I would suspect thrips. Is this possible?

Get a 5x magnifying glass and look, I suspect mites !
