What's this part of a Phal called?
3 Attachment(s)
Hi everyone,
I was looking at the phals I have out at the moment and thought I'd ask something which I've always wondered about: Is there a specific name for the little tendril-like part of the lip? For example, you can see the Phal Moon Halo (pic 1) has a longer lip than the one one Dragon's Charm (pic 2) while Phal Elegant Jennifer (pic 3) has an in between length. |
I think, but am not certain, that those tendrils are called antennae.

Christenson calls them "lobules," but also refers to them as "appendages," or "cirrhi."

Thanks :) I was sure that they would be called something!

I'm glad you asked that question. When my neice was small she called them "fangs" and I have to admit, the name stuck:rofl::rofl:

Now that's funny Joann. When my daughter was little she called them the same thing and I've always thought of them as 'fangs'.
