Coelogyne South Carolina 'Maplewood'

Coelogyne South Carolina 'Maplewood' (Burfordiense [pandurata X asperata] X pandurata, 1996) 75% pandurata & 25% asperata . These are like secondary blooms because the whole first batch of 4 spikes was decimated when I left it out in the 6-day deluge of rain this summer !!! The spikes (3 this time) were started outside but finished inside under lights. Blooms are smaller 3.25" horizontal petals. This is my only Coelogyne and I couldn't live without it !! I divide it every year into 3rds, sometimes 4ths !!! AND it LOVES to grow outside hot & humid !!! I killed all the other ones I tried ! NOT this one, it's one of my top 5 favorites !

How do you take care of your plant? I also put my Coelogyne outside in direct sunlight and it is indoors for the winter on the bay window...I have 3 large bulbs already and for the past 5 months it doesnt wanna budge on its pot, maybe its sulking cause I repotted it on glass... I was hoping it will bloom soon

While it's growing or spiking I fertilize it weekly with full strength 1 tsp/gal 20-10-20 Grow More urea free. It's potted in a 9" ceramic pot (largest one I had this time !) with a bark/sphag/leca combo.

I have always loved this cross but never bought one because of how big they get in a very short time.

 That is a GROSS understatement !!! I SERIOUSLY DO divide it EVERY year into 3 and sometimes 4 pieces !!! That's just so I can keep it in my 9" pot !!!!! This year will be different because it's off schedule, I might only have to divide it into 2 pieces !! I call it my "canoe paddle plant" because when in mature growth, each leaf is as big as and shaped like my canoe paddle !!! The piece I have was stunted by the rain, I mean the leaves aren't fully mature. Just measured them and they're only 18".

Ahh, but I DO love it !!!
