Laelia (?) new lead's leaves turn brown

I'm new to this forum, but thought you could help me with a problem I'm having with my Laelia. At least I think it is a Laelia as it was a rescue orchid and didn't have a label.

The Laelia sends out new leads, gets about 4 "stem" leaves, then the "stem" leaves turn brown. I tried pulling on the leaves to determine if I have a rot problem, but leaves are firmly attached. I also noted that although brown, they are soft and pliable. I've seen this happen on say 8 new leads. I took the action of increasing my watering from 2(x) weekly to 3(X) weekly. This seems to be working as new green leaves are pushing their way thru the brown leaf leads along with new green leads. I'm guessing this means that I need to water more and that my office environment is dry.

What do you think? Am I on the right track? I will try and post a picture.

Pictures would sure help identify your problem. It sounds like watering more frequently is working.
