Slug solution?
I know that some water with physan solution. Has anyone tried the same with slug killer?
I have noticed some slugs about. What do you recommend for slugs? Pedi |
You can trap them by putting out a dish of beer, they love it. There are also pet safe slug pellets.
Another option is placing a ring of copper wire, or anything copper around the plant at ground level. It acts like an electric fence. |
Thanks,,very interesting about the copper wire. Will set out some beer tonight, in addition to the little pellets.

Try sluggo, it is bait, so it draws them in.
Works great, just apply sparingly and on a regular basis. |

I like sluggo plus.
Beer works.... Find one thats high in yeast. The problem I had with that is that I drew new slugs and snails in my garden. Citrus works.... cut a lemon or lime in half and place it flat side down but propped up 1/4" next where you see slime trails. Then go out in the middle of the night and pick it up and throw it away. Shiny copper work. I use copper foil then cut jagged edges to it. My fav product lately is Ed Rosenthal's Zero Tolerance. Cleared my whole garden in a week of all pests. Kills there eggs as well. Pricey tho. Some horticultural oil work too. The easiest is the sluggo and works pretty well. |
Try ....grinding mustard seeds! yup...i have sluggo but in wet greenhouse conditions, it easily rots and fungus grows on them and then you have another fungus problem. the beer in the cup trick doesn't really work if you have handing basket orchids or in a pot, they're more suitable for outdoor ground cultivation.

I use a liquid slug bait dabbed on the pot. When I lived close to the river they were thick , rock salt scattered around the foundation of the greenhouse worked to keep them out ..

Manual catching from cucumber slices does work well. Lettuce seems to work as well.

Hi
The solution for the slugs i am looking at where i have more than 400 plants on my terrace, it is difficult for me to put ground coffee (though i am a coffee drinker) or copper wire is difficult to follow, any other practical suggestions!, it was frustrating to see all my Phal leaves and buds are eaten and the slugs made a feast on them sastry |
