Rookie from Portland, OR :)
Hi there! I am new to the wonderful and beautiful world of Orchids (if my name didn't already give that away). I have never had much of a green thumb or even attempted to grow anything but this past mothers day I purchased a Phal from a grocery store in memory of my mom. She passed away two years ago and LOVED orchids so I felt it was an appropriate purchase. I did a bit of research online about their care instructions and like many others out there learned that you can keep them and (hopefully) get them to re-bloom. I have since purchased three more Phals and just ordered an Oncidium from an Orchid vendor on Amazon. I am planning on mounting the Oncidium since I read that they are one of the easiest species to mount for a first timer, and because it is a very beautiful and natural way to grow them. I am also interested in making a terrarium out of an old ten gallon hexagon fish thank that I have sitting around. Anyway, during all my online research this was the forum that always had the most helpful information and thought that if I really plan on making this a life long hobby I should join!! I look forward to gaining lots of knowledge from everyone, and hopefully one day I will be educated enough to share my knowledge with others!! It's great to be here and meet everyone!!
