Here is my new Bulbophyllum moniliforme trying it out in an exo terra seems to be doing well it has started putting out new bulbs. It is actually a lot greener than the picture my flash is making it look faded it is a really cool little orchid that I have always wanted.

Ohhh this is the leafless bulbo !!! It does look very cool. Like little beads. I definetely need one of those. Please post pictures when it blooms.

Will do for sure It actually does throw up a few tiny leaves that fall off in the fall. I really hope it blooms I have read where people have trouble growing this but it has been doing great.

It can be tricky unlike some bulbo's this one needs to get watered daily ime otherwise it dries up and fades away.I love them they are my favorite bulbo.Goodluck and when it blooms you will be amazed .

I looked at one of these at a show and didn't have the guts to buy one. So cute!

I really do not think it is that hard to grow I do water it daily the trick is it does not liked to be sprayed on directly I usually soak the wood around it and it seems to be doing well I will keep everyone updated.

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but I have to differ in my opinion on the ease of cultivation for this species of Bulbophyllum.

I have a colony that's been around for 2 - 3 yrs. I can safely say in my experience this is not an easy Bulbo to grow and therefore not a beginner's Bulbo by any stretch of the means.

It does have a leaf that only develops and appears on new growths, and it does fall off on the onset of dormancy (mid-fall).

It requires a much drier dormancy.

Older pseudobulbs only live up to be about 2 - 3 yrs old.

They grow extremely slow. Only putting out at most 2 new growths per new mature pseudobulb. New pseudobulbs mature in size in one full growing season.

Root growth for this species is rather sparse and only 5 or less roots will be produced per pseudobulb.

I've found pseudobulbs of any age to be particularly susceptible to rot if they are grown too wet. During dormancy, diminishing the amount of water it receives is crucial or it will start the onset of rot. I've also found that it is particularly prone to root rot if grown too wet. In essence, there is still a limit to the amount of moisture this plant can safely absorb during the growing season.

High humidity is a definite plus and greatly aids in the proper maintenance of this plant.

If not grown correctly, it has a tendency to peter out.

and thanks Philip everything you said seems to be dead on I had a bigger group a few years ago in a dart frog tank. I had it for about 2 years and then of course I had to go on vacation and lets just say my little brother has the opposite of a green thumb.
