Would appreciate ID of two Paphiopedila(?)

Maybe differentiate by image names ending in 34-38 as "red", and 424-1 "rose colored".

Thanks in advance.

The first one is a Paph which looks like Paph. lowii and the second one is a Phragmipedium; not sure as to which since I don't have any of them.

I would agree with Rolando on both. The Phrag is most likely a besseae cross like a Memoria Dick Clements.... but then you knew that.

Some beautiful examples of Paph. lowii in the simplest web search, now that I know what to look for. Thanks to both of you, for both IDs.

The Phrag isn't very similar to Memoria Dick Clements (sargentianum x besseae) at all, which is usually seen in solid red colors with much broader petals. If there is any besseae there it would have to be 2 or 3 generations back. It is much more similar to Sorcerer's Apprentice (longifolium x sargentianum) but I doubt it is a primary hybrid. It isn't likely that a precise ID can be made.

I think the Phrag might be Olaf Gruss which is a primary hybrid of besseae and pearcei. If not, I think it definitely has both parents in its background, probably only one more, maybe hirtzii.
