I recently received this orchid in bloom. Now, about 2 months later, it's in bloom once more, although with fewer flowers.
oh can anyone tell me what mok. sayan is short for?? I keep attached it to a post and it gets plenty of sunlight -- hopefully not too much!! -- but it seems to be doing ok for now. I water it twice a day. just thought I would share these pics! |
Looks like the plant is doing perfectly fine. I'd say you have the lighting and water down correctly. :)
"Mok" is the abbreviation for "Mokara." I'm not sure what the name for a Mokara x Ascocenda hybrid would be, though. |
Gorgeous colour!

thank you!! :)

oh wow! gorgeous!
|
Beautiful! I'm a sucker for warm tones, especially orange.
|
TPO, I like your Mokara! (usual abbreviation is Mkra.)
They are a cross of Arachnis, Ascocentrum and Vanda and I believe your plant is still correctly named Mokara. Baz |
Well I don't have any experience with Mokara, but I like the flowers. Nice color. Good growing.

Very nice color and shape.
If getting plenty of sun, those plants bloom all year round under tropical climate. If the green color of the leaves is getting really too light, change the plant in a place with a bit less sun. I agree with Baz, in my opinion this plant should be named as a Mokara as the ancestor are still Vanda x Arachnis x Ascocentrum because the Ascocenda (Vanda x Ascocentrum) touch doesn't bring any new generas. |
thanks everyone!! :D

thanks for this info, I was extremely surprised when I saw it bloom again SO soon! however, it has 6 blooms at the moment and when i got it I think there were at least 10, if not more. I know for sure it is getting a lot more light now as the leaves have gotten lighter since I got it. There was no bud blast. Could less buds be something to do with improper care? thanks too for the info on its name. I am trying to understand my orchid labels! this one had puzzled me for some time... |
