Fertile Myrtle Phal :P

I got this phal in Mid January. It has been my first successful phal and I just wanted to share my success thus far. When I got the phal, it was in perfect condition, but the decorative clay pot was broken so I got it on clearance for 7 dollars. It had 5 bloom spikes, but only one had flowers. Now, all 5 have flowers, totaling 9 at this time. It has dropped about 4, and there are 4-6 new buds rapidly emerging.

I keep the phal in a south facing window and I water it once every week to week and a half. Basically when the top layer of moss dries out. This seems to be working. I have fertilized it w/ Miracle Grow orchid fertilizer 3 times maybe. I am just so proud of this plant and I am shocked at how well it is doing. I have another that is dormant and I cannot wait until it blooms again :)

Here are some progress pics:

Love the colour combo and so many blooms. Very nice.

Just to be on the safe side, has it been re-potted since you bought it or have you checked the roots? So many of them come potted in very tightly packed sphagnum moss in the root ball and develop root rot very quickly if some of it isn't removed or the plant re-potted. It looks like yours is in a clay pot, so it may not be a problem, but I wouldn't want that lovely plant to lose its roots :)

it also looks like there is two plants in that pot, or a big basal keiki. either way, good growing

I remember your initial thread about this plant, and it looks wonderful with all the spikes in bloom!!

It has not been repotted yet, but as soon as it stops blooming, I plan to repot.

Yes, I have posted pics of this one before. I am just shocked at how well it is doing. Other ones I have brought home have not done as well. :)
