I was surprised this was blooming in the middle of winter!
Stanhopea x fowlieana a natural hybrid between stanhopea costaricensis and stanhopea ecornuta. The flowers took less than hour to open to full bloom, you can literally watch it open and unfold! |
Neat. How long do they last?

AS with most Stanhopeas, it didn't last that long about 4 days and it started to wilt =(..but there is another flowering buds coming from the other side!
|
What a stunning flower! Great colors and form. To be able to watch it fully open has got to be a neat experience! AL

]Very nice!!!

Cool that it opens so fast. Must be like sitting and watching a time lapse video.

Do the flowers have 'Stanhopea horns' ? - Your photos appear not to show any :(...
|
gosh, I didn't take notice of the horns, there should be. I will take some more pictures when the other set of flowers bloom. I think I do recall noticing short stubby horns though!
|
Beautiful!

Hi everyone, I just want to post some more pictures of the second set of flowers that bloomed yesterday. I took some close up and you'll be able to see more details, including the short horns on this one!
