new to everything advice needed!

hello i have never grown orchids before, but i am want to start growing them in a terrarium. i have a 46 gallon bowfront that i will be using for the terrarium. i would love to know what type of soil is best, and which orchids are easiest. i want to start out with easy ones, and move on as i get better. also would like to know how much humidity does best. anything you can tell me would be very much appreciated. thank you in advance.

Basics first.

1. There are terrestrial orchids.

2. There are epiphytical orchids (orchids that grow on trees or other plants).

3. There are lithophytic orchids (orchids that grow on rocks).

4. There are orchids that choose multiple modes of growing from the above choices. For example:

Thunia marshalliana can be grown as a terrestrial or an epiphyte.

Questions:

1. How bright do you intend to keep the tank?

2. How cool or warm do you intend to keep the tank?

Note:

I highly recommend growing miniature sized orchids because of the size limitations of your tank.

Welcome to OB!

I don't do terrariums, but I am sure that someone that does will chime in soon.
