"The most interesting/ useful/ etc. thing I've found out is..."

Hi everyone :waving

I think everyone on here will agree how great this site is and how much fantastic information is available :)

But, I was thinking how good it'd be to have a thread where we can all chip in with the best/ most interesting/ most useful/ least useful(!)/ most unusual/ etc thing that we've found out on OB. That way, we might learn a bit more from each other and maybe help others along the way.

(apologies if this has already been done, I did look but couldn't see anything obvious!)

So, to get the ball rolling, the most interesting thing I have found out on here is the use of cinnamon to treat fungal infections and use as a caurtariser when doing divisions, for example. It's a simple one, and clearly something that lots of people know, but I didn't know that before I looked on here :)

Looking forward to reading what you think,
Jenny x

I once received some very supportive comments when I discovered one of my prized Cattleyas (a wedding present, no less!) was virused. :( It was just what I needed to hear at the time, and I'm very grateful for that...it helped me to do the right thing so that the rest of my collection wouldn't be threatened.

Hi Claire - Did the Cattleya pull through? what was the particular advice that helped so much? x

I learned about cinnamon as an antifungal.

I learned that I could use isopropyl alcohol directly
on my orchid leaves to get rid of mealybugs.

:cheer: This site rocks!! Thanks, everyone. :cheer:

if it's growing well, but not blooming - give it more light!

the most important tip (for me) - kabob skewers in pots to help determine when to water :D

But also using listerine as an antibacterial and such.
