the andean tears and barbara lea ann live in the water and like to swim in phrag tank

hanna popow lives on the outside of the water so she dont stay wet all the time but not dry...???? fine line between not wet and not dry...

dick clemens he lives up on the hill. I just want him to stop trying to roll down it :(..he did...they got started out pretty rough all dried up in the back of a truck ...again, the plants seem to be happy..some of the leaves were already yellow when I got them and it really looks like its just moving along with new leaves.

the andean tears looks really good healthy plant as far as I can tell..I havent opened them up for inspection bec I didnt want to stress anymore.Maybe In a few weeks if I notice anything I might have a look.

(2) 4 ft T5 830 lamps overhead for additional lighting for a south window with an extreme overhang..room stays 72 degrees ,between 60 and 70% humidity all the time with Rainwater in the tank...

i still dont understaned the water dwelling orchids what kind like to live in the water?

Just a note the Hanne Popow blooms when fairly small, it likes to climb, new ending up in the air .. I have one doing that now .. Nice haul good luck with them :)

Disa's like to be wet I understand..Disa like refigerator cold water on they feet..

not too many can stand living with wet feet BUT because moving water is very very clean for the most part you dont get much salts or minerals to build up and hurt tender roots. I guess they can turn the faucet on and off too helps :)

Most any of the bessea hybrids like to have wet feet. I keep all of mine in saucers of RO water, and they are all doing very well. I recently repotted 3 of them and they got real happy and I can see lots of new root growth. Phrags also have longish roots that are very sturdy. I like to pot them in deeper pots so the roots can really stretch out.

Yours look great Rocket. You've started down the slippery slope of Phragdom and there's no turning back. LOL I predict many more in your future as soon as your first one blooms for you. :lol:

Only the Disas that grow along streams, flood banks, waterfall drip zones, seepage areas, and seasonal marshes like to be pretty wet.

Some like cold water, but it doesn't have to be. Refrigerated water can work, but so can using room temperature water and watering at night or early in the morning. A clay pot helps keep things cool too.

heh yeah they are cute and SMALL compared to what Ive seen blooming here...knew I wasnt going to get one blooming and they were intriguing to me nonetheless.

Talked to the guy at orchids ltd and he says at this stage they grow pretty fast..pretty fast is an ambiguous term

and thanks for more info on the DISA's they are intriguing to me also but I dont think Im ready for a DISA yet

they seem to be doing well. lost a lower leaf on each one but it turned completely and another leaf started to jumpout..So i think thats normal here..

The Hanna Popow got hurt :( yeah she fell over on the fogger and that little ultrasonic thing kind of gets hot and she lost part of a leaf..I cut it bec it was water logged and didnt want it to spread into fungus or rot...

plain rainwater circulating 24/7for now...added about a teaspoon of superthrive to about 4 gallons of water the tank holds ,so its very weak..1/4 teaspoon of orchid plus into the tank along with a capful of consan 20 and Im thinking they should do well...
temp stays at 72 -75 all the time and they get nice bright light 15 hours a day for now..need to check to see if I need to start cutting back the daylight/lamps but I have read phrags are not photoperiodic.http://oi52.tinypic.com/2gtu2dl.jpg

cant tell but these 4 plants are almost worth more than everything else I have...oh dear me what did I do here :roll:

I figured them like this..If I start off with a cheap phrag and am accidentally successful I haven't learned anything...If I buy an expensive plant and kill it then I have learned something :rofl: :waving
