Peloric Phals

How severe can the genetic mutation of a peloric Phal become? I'm curious because my peloric orchid has started to alter the outer petals to varying degrees. Has anyone else seen this?

I've attached some pics to show the changes. The first one is the orchid flowering last year, the second shows one of the least affected flowers and the third shows the most affected.

Those last 2 pics are K-razy! I've never seen a phal with multiple lips like that before. It almost looks like something that's been photoshopped.

I don't have any experience with peloric Phals, but I'm sure that someone on the OB must.

Great pics.

I'm not quite sure, but I love it! It's probably one of the most intersting ones I've seen!

Trust me, it hasn't been photoshopped. All the flowers on the plant are similarly affected.

If semi peloric is a partial mutation, and peloric is a complete mutation of the inner petals, what would mine be named? Semi full peloric??? :scratchhead:

do you listen to loud rock music around the plants? :)

Wow, that's one of the most peloric I've ever seen, although I have seen pics of others pretty close to that.

Interesting that it has become more peloric in a later flowering. I have heard they can change and sometimes go back to normal.

Peloria can be very variable from year to year, depending on the cross. I love the look of a great peloric, and yours is really neat. Here's a shot of mine.

Kim that is gorgeous.

How weird, I've never heard of peloric phals, can anybody explain what it means?

Marion, here's a quick definition I found. 'Unusual regularity in the form of a flower that is normally irregular.'
