Howeara Lava Burst 'Puanani', loves S/H

I posted this before but now spikes are over 30 inches, which I have never seen before, and this is a houseplant with forced air heating in the Winter.

Obviously loves S/H, even though it is a shameless climber and I constant yank off and repot the new growth that climbs too high.

what type of S/H do you have it planted in and how big was it when you first planted it? I have one of these and its not doing very well, and I'd do anything to have it look like yours!!! :)

It looks just great! You're doing a wonderful job with it!
I've been in the market for 1 of these for a few years now, never seem to find one. Next week I may truck down to the local greenhouse and see if I can muster up one over there

Thanks for the view :D

Maria, it's gorgeous! My little guy is also in s/h and has put up 2 spikes. Buds are now starting to form.

I have got to get one of these Puanani orchids if it's the last thing I do.

Lady T

This is the few i have in Ray's unmodified method, using the one pot method with two hole 1 in up from the bottom.

This is what it looked like in water culture ~3 years ago.

Thanks Gloria. I have a few more hanging around in vases in water culture and I use them for decoration instead of cut flowers or give away. I would gladly give you some if you were closer and maybe you could ask an old-timer for a couple of healthy pbs. You just need one, preferably the 'Puanani' Clone, and as long as there is a latent new growth, no matter how bad the roots are you can clean them up in water culture (Occ. peroxide wash, etc) then you too will be giving them away.

Thanks Jo Ann.

I am glad to hear about your plant, especially since I am in the process of giving most of my orchids away, including this one, since I am planning to live in California for a while.
