Please keep in mind, frequency of watering and fertilizing will depend on what medium you pot it up in, also. People grow these things on everything from 5A sphag to granite rock chunks to mounting on a simple clay pot. Hope the links are helpful.

There are also people growing these in S/H.

do you guys find them hard? or picky? do you think i could do it?

Call_Me_Bob 07-09-2010 11:22 AM

would i keep them in phal light?

nenella 07-09-2010 02:31 PM

No they are not hard to grow. I got one in 2007 & it has doubled in size and has put out it's first spike (7 buds) ! :D - I can't wait!
Mine's mounted on cork with sphag, I did have to mount the original cork onto a bigger piece..I water whenever the sphag dries. At the moment every 2 days. I keep it in a west facing window. Hope this helps

is yours indoors? how much humidity do they need? can they be grown potted?

nenella 07-09-2010 07:37 PM

Yes indoors but 'lives' in one of my 'bottles'.. Although since the spike has developped I've had to put her by herself and taken her out of the bottle as the developing flowers were starting to touch the sides of the bottle..
My humidity ; average 55%. in winter - have known it to go down to 40%. @ times. ( but I keep the moss humid)
Temp average: 22°C
tonight humidity = 73% :D ....wish I could keep it all year @ this! :cloud9:
Yes I believe a lot of people grow it potted; a lot in pots with spagh mounts (traditional japnese way)there are many threads on this species.. which is what prompted/enabled me to get mine 2 yrs ago:!
everyone says they're fab... I await my for my blooms to open.

Call_Me_Bob 07-09-2010 07:43 PM

what are these bottles you talk about? i really have no idea how to do these!! could you get on chat and tell me and just talk? i read the links so i know more now, but im still unsure. and, i need to figure it out quick!! because im getting mine tomorrow from asiatica. what is a spagh mount?

WhiteRabbit 07-09-2010 08:13 PM

I am pretty sure there are threads in the Neo forum regarding sphag mounds - the traditional Japanese potting method of Neos. They don't need to be potted this way - whatever you are most comfortable with.

Here's the link to Tracy's thread with her video demonstrating this method
