Hello From Sunny Southern California

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum, The one I was using previously (orchidgeeks) was hacked and doesn't work anymore :-( However, this forum seems to be great too. :-)

I'm extremely new to caring for orchids I have two Phalaenopsis orchids and one cymbidium. I think I will be re-potting my phals. sometime soon, so i will no doubt be coming to all of you for advice on how I should do it. :-)

Thank you and good day,
Nick

Hi Nick,

Welcome to the Orchid Board! Here are some resources that might be of some interest...

On the OB there is a forum category for members who are located in Southern California. If you have an orchid related topic relevant to SoCal feel free to post it in that category.

There's groups on flickr and facebook with quite a few SoCal orchid growers...
Flickr SoCal Orchid Group
Facebook SoCal Orchid Page

There's also an orchid society that meets in your area...Riverside-San Bernardino Counties Orchid Society

I have a friend who lives in Colton who grows quite a few orchids outdoors year around. If the topic interests you here is the single best article on the subject...Growing Orchids Outdoors in Southern California

Hi Marissa!

I'll give my buddy Gary (aka OrchidByte) a hard time about not telling you when you drove all the way across town to pick up the orchids from him. :D I think there was one orchid in that batch that I was interested in but was curious to see who, if anybody, would take him up on his offer.

Actually I'm pretty sure that some time ago I sent the sites to somebody in your society...as is too often the case the information doesn't necessarily trickle down to all the society members. Oh well...better late than never!

Ha ha ha, so you know about that? I gave some of them to my girl friend and one that I really like is in coma right now. T'was my first time going in that area and it was sooo hot, I felt sorry for my dog because he got blisters in his paws.
