Cattleya intermedia x Laelia dayana
The names are probably no longer right although I haven't got a clear picture on what dayana really is. Anyone know? This hybrid doesn't appear to be registered. It's a very old cross and this is a division of one of the very first plants I ever bought nearly 9 years ago. It's pretty and I really like it:

Very nice primary hybrid.

Really gorgeous. I love the simple white with the purple frills on the lip.

That is just totally charming!

It's a bit deceptive. The petals are actually a soft purple colouring which I sometimes find hard to capture. They look white in the bright sunlight though.

Really beautiful, I can see some of the purple petals in the picture.
Isn't Laelia dayana actually Laelia pumila var. dayana? Laelia pumila now appears to be Sophonitis pumila! Soooo......Cattleya intermedia x Sophronitis pumila = Cattleya Janet. Registered in 1897 by Lawrence. Are we confused yet! :) |
Yes I have been told that this is a possibility. Thanks for the information, it's a very old hybrid and I suspected it must have been registered by now but couldn't find anything on it. A few people in the forums have been helping me with this and I appreciate the help.

That hybrid really gets the best of both parents. The nice shape of pumila with a narrower, tighter labelum and great coloration in the lip.
