Newbie Philippines

Mabuhay!

I am Uly and a resident of the Cavite, Philippines since birth. . Excuse my english i am not really good at it but i will try my very best to express what i want to know and share with you folks.

As far as i know, i've been fascinated with orchids since my high-school days but my very first wasn't actually one, it was a bromeliad whom my beloved aunt gave me as a gift from then on the rest was disaster err history. Well, in general, i really love plants but i am really more focused on the orchids.

My motto by being a plant/orchid enthusiast is that it doesnt matter if i have the cheapest of the cheapest plant/orchid but as long as you give it your best TLC it will bloom/grow and shine like a diamond. As much as possible, i use organic-based ferts and natural pesticides.

Fast forward, since the weather is quite wet and cold for now in these part of the globe. I am somehow going back again to these hobby of mine. I've lost so many along the way because of negligence, laziness, work, and lack of knowledge into the husbandry of these beauts. I've also realized that i'll concentrate more on cattleyas since it seems that my hands are better growing these genus.

Anyway, hoping to meet new people and bumped into let say "seasoned" ones and of course, i want to (re/un) learn about these beauties again.

Happy planting.

Hi Uly,
welcome on OB!
I really look forward to hear from you what you use as environmently friendly fertilizer and ways to deter pests. Because you live on an other part of the world, you might come up with things I never did think of!

Welcome Uly. As the others said your english is fine. Don't worry about mistakes, I just killed a paph. delenati (check my spelling on that) and a phalaenopsis. I had never before killed an orchid so these were my first. You will find everyone on here to be extremely helpful. So ask away.
PS) I am very jealous of where you live.
