Microsaccus griffithii light requirements
Hi all,
My aunt gave me a Microsaccus griffithii and some other orchids for my b-day this year. I did some searches and came up with eveything I need except for lighting recommendations. I have a terrarium I keep other species from the same region well. It's about to bloom so I dont just want to toss it somewhere and burn it as the there is a decent amount of light on the tank, but also some shady spots. Anyone keep Microsaccus griffithii? Have any suggestions, I would appreciate it! |
From what I was able to find out from IOSPE, it has the same light requirements as Phalaenopsis.

lol, I figured that much out. I've never grown phals. I guess I was looking for something more specific to lighting distance etc. Sorry, maybe I should've posted this in the terrarium section section?

As far as distance from light source it really depends on the source. What type and how many bulbs are lighting your terrarium?
|
2 T8 shop lights 48" with ZooMed Ocean Sun and Flora Sun bulbs(total of 4). Also a 20-something" Coralife compact flourescent fixture with a daylight bulb on one side of the tank.

I have not used T8s. If they behave similar to T12s then about 12 inchs away.

Cool, thank you. I guess no one else really grows these.
The only relevant differences are T8's put out slightly more lumens and lose their intesity much slower, so that works. |
