Orchid species for small vivarium
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum and want to learn more about growing orchid in vivarium. As I know a lot of you are experts on this subject I'm sure I can get some good suggestion here. I'm planning to set up a small glass vivarium. The size of the viv is 28cm(L) x 30cm(W) x 24cm(H). I want to introduce some very small orchid sp. into it. What species would you recommended and what sort of condition I need to provide in order to keep the plant happy? |
Hi Sean,
For the size you are trying I would recommend a Stelis or several Stelis species. These are small plants with very small flowers. Click this link to see> Stelis |

Any suggestion to set up myself a terrarium?? Thanks |

I would grow Haraella odorata, Masdiavellias, Pluerothatlis, Draculas for cool terrariums or Miniature Catts and Sophoronitis if you want to grow it warm.

i love Lepanthes calodictyon and Epidendrum porpax for small spaces

Thanks everyone for your valuable advice. I'll keep you update on the progress of my project.:)

It has rebloomed since being in my fishtank so I'd say yeah they are good choice for the viv/terrarium if grown epiphytically. Here's a link to a blog entry I made on mine [the site was down and I obviously need to reupload some pics] it's a Stelis porschiana: Stelis porschiana | Orchids Online |
