Buds or keiki on Dendrobium Nobile

Hi.
:)Can anyone tell me when I should be able to tell whether or not I will get flowers or a keiki on this den nobile? I have been checking multiple times a day, and I still can't tell!

Cam...I hear ya! I'm in a similar spot with my Den. Pixie Charm (a unicum hybrid). I'm trying to be patient, and not even post pictures on the OB, but it's getting ridiculous! Wish I could help you out, but I feel your pain.

Thanks lol. At least when other orchids send up spikes you know that you are going to get blooms! Pixie Charms are nice. Has yours ever bloomed before?

So true, Cam. Yes, I purchased it in bud last Feb. The blooms are really wonderful. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...om_closeup.jpg

Here's the current buds-or-keiki dilemma:

gah! Yours are quite a bit more advanced that mine and you still can't tell... hmm I guess I will just have to wait a few more weeks. There are lots of buds/keikis forming, so good job growing either way!

I didn't hold off on the water much, so I doubt they will be flowers, but with the cold temps near the window, and forgetting to water it on several occasions:evil:, I am hoping I forced it into blooming!

normally buds wont form in that place. kerki could be.
Buds are formed in the end of the stem .
After five ,ten days you will see the lil leaves coming up before flower spikes.

Actually, that is where the buds form on mine. Is it different in Cam's case? These are not the Phal-type Dens.

you guys both have the same type; blooming from the sides.
they are not den phals

Oh I love this thread. I just bought my first Den. Nobile :-) and try to learn as much as I can about this plant.
Please let us know how dus little growths develop, buds or keiki's :-) I might have the same question next fall :D

Happy growing!,
Nicole
