Blc. Mahina Yahiro 'Ulii'
 

I bought this plant last May at the Pacific Orchid Exposition and it bloomed on New Year's Day. These (Blc. Mahina Yahiro 'Ulii') are supposed to be very large and fragrant flowers but unfortunatley they did not seem to have opened up all the way.:_( I am hoping they will open up a little more but I am skeptical. One of the bad things about cattleyas is that the flower period is relatively short. What have I done wrong?:scratchhead: The other cattleya that also bloomed on New Year's Day was my Hknsa Sogo Doll 'Little Angle' AM/OSROC. Lovely little flowers.

I think it's pretty, and hopefully it will continue to open. I love the frilly lip.

I don't think you've done anything wrong, Stephen. I've had this happen to some of mine too, especially a newer plant, or a first time bloomer. The next time all was fine. It is really a beautiful flower! See what happens next time.

I agree - sometimes its just a fluke, and its all good at the next blooming. They are really nice though!!! I love that doll - I think I have that one too somewhere, LOL... :D

This is a lovely pink! One of my favorites. I bet it will bloom better the next time.
