The New Indoor Orchid Display
My sister got handy with a saw and some bolts one day and this is what she made. I think I want one. Think she'd notice if it when missing. I tried to get some shots of orchids in flower but the lighting was working against me.

Fantastic! Fill us in on the details -- it looks dark in the photos, but I suspect it has plenty of light by the blooming going on. Can you give us specifics such as lights?

Nice setup! Thanks for sharing...we're always looking for new handy-dandy ways of growing the 'chids :)

What a great job she did, extremely happy :D place with all the blooming goin' on. The paph caught my eye, looks similar to a hampshire raven...

Thanks for the attention. We grow the majority of our orchids under lights. She has at least one 48" light on each level with 'gro-lights' in them. We try to change bulbs every 6-8 months. Sometimes I let mine go for nearly a year, but I do grow more low light paphs.
That is Paph. Black Cherry x Hampshire Raven. The flower is smaller this year since she hasn't been home as much to water it when spiking. Same problem with Onc. Sherry Baby too. Poor thing. :( Most of our orchids are young yet since we only just started expanding in the last year or so. Wanted to get the hang of growing, repotting and propagating before we invested too much into the collection. We have around 60 different species in the collection. I will post pictures as they flower. :photo: Thanks, Barb. |
