The Tsuki Connection Comparison
4 Attachment(s)
The tsuki is the conection line between the leaf and the axis. There are four types:
Namigata: Ocean wave Gata Ichimonsi: Tsuki line Yamagata: Mountain Tsukigata:Crescent Moon I only have two types that I can show pictures from my plants. Itosekai has ocean wave and Kibi Mikibi has crescent moon. If you have the others I would love to see them. Cheers, Glen |
I see it finally! I think all this time I was looking more at the stem then the actual connection between the stem and the leaves. Thanks Glen! Is tsuki also called tsuke? We need more learning lessons like this here on the OB! Your Neo's are so beautiful! :bowing

Becca, Thanks for the kind words. I think you are right with Tsuke. When I was writing I was doing from memory.G

i sure appreciate the lesson cause i have no clue of neo's besides thinking they are cool, and this is all new territory to me.....are all neo's capable of becoming the japanese things? and they are just neos till you pot em specially?....keep posting the info! thanks, dou

Dou, The post helps describe some of the traits that all neo's have by using the Japanese names for their characteristics. These characteristics are one of the reasons why there are so many cultivars. In many neo's the slightest stable variation will mean that there is a new cultivar to be named so look closely and collect them ALL!!!:muahaha:

Glen, I find it confusing to determine which ones have the Yamagata tsuke and which ones have the Namigata tsuke. I have 2 neos that, I was told by my grower, have the mountain tsuke. However, my Japanese Fuukiran dictionary describes them as having the ocean wave tsuke. Some of them listed with the Yamagata tsuke LOOK like they have the Namigata tsuke and vice versa. The only one I'm positive on is Sengaku. That definitely has the Yamagata tsuke. I donot own that one yet, though. When I win that on ebay, I'll post a pic.;)

More great information, Glen! I'm going to have to check and see what I've got here, but I don't think I have a Yamagata (mountain) one either.
Tracy, can you post photos of the two you mention? It would be interesting to see what you mean! |
If you scroll far down on this site (in french) Neofinetia falcata ou Fuukiran
You can find the four different tsuke: Ocean wave, Mountain, Crescent and Line. |
