Vandas like to be fed and watered quite heavily, but need to be dry by nightfall.

In my greenhouse, they get watered almost daily (not today...it's pouring outside).

Hey Txr2, Welcome to the OB! :waving

I'll start by saying that I grow my vandas bare root in baskets. I water my them daily, as early in the morning as possible so they dry out by days end. The way I do this is to soak the roots with a hose until water rolls off....then I come back about 10 to 15 minutes later and do it again. I wouldn't think that misting will do the trick.

On the first go around, the velum (the whitish coating that surrounds the roots) becomes wet and turns green as its pores open up. On the second go around, the water is absorbed through the pores in the velum to get to the root inside.

I fertilize each week with Dyna-Gro mixed at 1/2 teaspoon per gallon. When I fertilize, I soak the roots as described above.

I hope this helps. :)
