I have a beautiful Dendro that lost it's new top two buds, that didn't have a chance to open. THEY DRIED UP :_(

Shriveled up, died, and fell off. :((

WHY does this Happen??

Sorry to hear about that Jackie, what you had is called 'bud blast', which can occur due to any of several factors such as: being kept too dry, wide temperature swings, over-watering, over-fertilising, or even from shifting the position of the orchid while the buds are developing... perhaps the safest thing to do is just maintain what you were doing while the spike and buds were developing and try to keep the environment the same

I've had this happen to me too, annoying isn't it? even baby buds have dried up before they got close to bloom size. The only thing I had done was fertilize. So I decided I don't give them a drop. That worked ok, but know they need something so I have now amended that practice to fertilize, wait about 20 minutes and rinse them.. so far so good.

I fertilize the weak/weekly method.. for the above I even went weaker. So far I've not lost a bud/bloom.

I just recently bought this Dedro, 2 weeks ago. It was grown outdoors in the heat of FL.

And now I have it indoors, in 72-75 temps.

I figured bringing it inside into the cooler weather, from the Heat is what got her :(

I Fert Weekly/Weakly as well.

My dens love the hot outside.. And my small ones haven't stopped blooming since I bought them in April.

The buds/blooms that I lost were on the dens and on my phals.. since I now user a weaker fert and then water it (out) in about 20 mins.. things are much better.

When the plants are 'dry', I don't fert first. I will have them take a drink of some fresh water 1st.. I think that is a help to them as well. But thats just what I've experienced here.
