Brassia Eternal Wind 'Summer dream' pics
 

This is my one and only Brassia. It had quite the summer! Not once, but twice my growing bench fell over and while this baby was in spike it was thrown to the ground! Once it was when I was out of town and my Mom called and told me and I just told her to confirm the spikes were Ok of it would ruin my trip! Anyway, this is the best it has ever been. 5 bloom spikes! :D

So, forgive me that the plant is falling out of it's pot. It got knocked around a lot and I didn't want to repot it until it finished blooming. It is done blooming now and has been happily repotted in a 8" pot! I didn't divide it.

SO, anyway enjoy. (by the way the black background was my attempt to be creative and I used three black dresses of simliar fabric , but that was still too small to capture this giant!)

BTW, the 5th spike was a little slower then the others so in these pics it might not be very visible. It was near the center and lower then the others.

Very nice. Proof positive that orchids are quite resilient.

Yes, I was very surprised how well it fared. Especially considering that it was leaning so much out of it's pot already and it was so top heavy. Somehow it survived! Now next year, I can hope for 7 spikes? The previous year I think it had 3, and I have never divided it so we will see. Either way I was very happy with the beautiful show it gave me.

I have two Brassia and haven't been able to get them to bloom...maybe I should knock them to the ground once or twice :rofl:

Susanne, I think that is exactly what they need! A little bump or two and they get the hint! That or moving them close to the compost heap!
