Aeranthes grandiflora

Here is a pic of my Aeranthes, I read that it is supposed to smell like butterscotch, but I don't smell it. The flower only lasted a couple of days, does anyone know if this is normal? :( Thanks for looking!

I know nothing about this genus at all. What I do know for a fact is that lots of orchids supposedly being fragrant may not be for you. In fact, a few that are not supposed to be fragrant may be for you. So fragrance appears to be a personal thing, at best. By the way, be sure to check both in daylight and total darkness to see if it's a "night thing".

Wow your Aeranthes looks so healthy and happy! I have a ramosa.....it doesn't look as great as yours! Now after seeing your pictures I am determined to get mine to look more healthy like yours....mine is a very dark green and is growing very slowly. Is yours mounted? I thought I saw in your first photo what looks to be a mount? Great photo's! Thanks for sharing!

:cheer:   Great growing! Congrats
Aren't these plants great! Yours looks very healthy ! Mine bloomed sequentially over the span of a month...it was wonderful to watch  It is normal that the blooms only last a short time. The blooms on mine lasted anywhere from 3 to 5 days...gets more yellow each day - it's really neat  . These guys are slow growers and mine prefers medium light (mostly shaded). I have not detected a scent in any of blooms either :_( . Here are a couple of shots of mine ( the last one is a picture of the plant when I purchased it last November...):goodluck: |
