Hello from Singapore :)

Hello from Singapore! :waving

I came across this site quite by accident, but it looks like a very active forum (to say the least) from what I've seen so far.

I caught the orchid bug when a colleague of my wife's decided to give us a cattleya as a housewarming present (I live in an apartment with a south-facing balcony, indirect bright sunlight most of the day). That was six months ago. I'm now at 9 orchid plants and counting...!

I look forward to interacting with more of you on this forum. ;)

:hello Baloney and :welcome: to the OB !!! I'm sure that you'll have a great time here. What other plants do you have besides the Cattleya??

Grandma M 07-02-2008 01:14 PM

:hello Welcome Baloney.

There is a lot of info to be found on this forum. If you have questions, just ask. If someone does not know the answer someone else (usually Dorothy or Ross) will very often find answers for you.:scratchhead: We have a very friendly, and helpful group of orchid lovers here. Have fun.

Hello Baloney and Welcome to the OB!

This is a very helpful forum indeed, personally it has helped me to improve my orchid growing habits by milestones.

We'd love to see pics of your 'chids if possible

Enjoy yout time here! :D

Let me add my welcome also Baloney.
Wow, living in Singapore I'm surprised you only have 9 'chids!
I would be in very serious trouble if I lived there!!

You might want to start thinking about moving to bigger quarters, we have been known to enable people and their collections!

Thanks for the kind words all :)

My not-so-impressive orchid collection consists of the following at the moment:

BLC Mem. Crispin Rosales
BLC Li Cheng Pearl
LC Star Garden
Vanda Miss Joachim (Singapore's national flower!)
An unidentified vanda
An unidentified dendrobium :(
An unidentified mini-dendrobium
An unidentified cattleya from my grandpa
A mini cattleya from Taiwan (but I only know the name in mandarin)

Looking to add to it before the end of the month... there's a flower show soon :P
