Hi Craig! Can you tell us more about what this porous material looks like, such as color and texture? Can you perhaps find a picture to show to us?

Hi Craig :waving
All of my Phal species orchids grow like this. Some of them are on cork, some are on Epiweb ( Category Listing - EpiWeb ) and some are in small baskets or plastic containers with holes cut or burned through the sides for drainage or even suet feeders. I just put a little sphag under the plant, place the plant upside down and top it with a little more sphag to protect the roots from what is used to tie it down. I use either fishing line, twist ties or those plastic zip strip thingys :) http://www.orchidboard.com/community...905&ppuser=293 http://www.orchidboard.com/community...571&ppuser=293 http://www.orchidboard.com/community...450&ppuser=293 http://www.orchidboard.com/community...409&ppuser=293 The last photo is of my favorite Phal equestris, a gift from Gin and the sideways mount idea came to me from her :D |
