Paph. Fairy Bird (Paph. fowliei x Paph. Fairrieanum)

My very first paph. I won this at auction in December at our Cape Cod orchid meeting. It was not in bloom, so eagerly anticipated this first bloom.
Paph. Fairy Bird (Paph. fowliei x Paph. Fairrieanum) with the drama-queen, Queen Anthurium, which does not appreciate anything other than being in the forefront in photos. It will be sulking later. |
Very nice! Congratulations on your first Paph bloom!

Thank you!

Sorry, but I believe that is mislabeled. That plant has a lot of Paph sukhakulii in it, hence the spotty petals.
I have attached a photo of the originator's plant that was used for registration purposes. Note the broader dorsale sepal, the stripes, and the slightly upswept petals, an influence of fairrieanum. |
Thank you Ray. For the information and photo. I’ll add a note on my plant list. Since I got this at auction (and don’t know who the grower is) I have no recourse.
The photo they displayed with the spots and stripes were the selling point for me. So, I feel I got what I wanted in bloom, but now it’s going to be in that dreaded NOID group in my collection. Quote:
