Angraecum sesquipedale var augustifolium

I got this in October 2020 from High Desert Orchids which is no longer in business. The evening fragrance reminds me of night blooming jasmine with a hint of chlorine.https://i.postimg.cc/cJhnXN2G/temp-Imagehzx6pr.avif

Lovely! Is it a first bloom? If so, worth the wait!

I'm curious what the distinction is for this variety over the type.

It's quite an attractive bloom. Maybe I'll have to try this variety. My standard variety (not sure if it has a more appropriate designation than that) has blooms that smell like some sort of medicinal skin care cream. It's not really that attractive of a scent. Do you grow any other of the larger angraecoids too? If you don't, try to find a plant of Angraecum eburneum or superbum. They like the same conditions as your sesquipedale, and the blooms smell pretty phenomenal. Congratulations on your flowering.
