4'x4' Tent

Here is my current growing situation, which in theory was to be a bump up in real estate, but already feels tight.

The pro of the increased depth is room for hanging stuff, while the con is accessability to plants at the back wall due to the hanging plants lol

I've only been using a single HLG Saber at 100w while I get a feel for it's spread/depth and figure out what I'm going to do long term in regard to the walls. I have another, and will likely use both at some point (they have a built in potentiometer)

One idea is to affix chrome wire panels on the sides and back, so I have three walls to place slab mounts.

The other idea is to use this 36" tall cork tube I got at my local orchid shop the other day when I loaded up on Brassavola hybrids. I could use as a single piece, and attach plants 360 degrees, or split into two long curved pieces, and affix to a wall.

So first I would certainly add more wire. More hanging space and more ability to dial in location for light and air

As for the cork, it looks really wet in there so I would make it a vertical mount and split it since you can’t see the back in your tent

In my experience, cork is an amazing mount as long as it does not sit in water or hold water. If it can run off and dry it last a very long time

Yep, definitely getting wire panels in before anything else.

The humidity is consistent in the mid-high 80s. I am striving for a few more degrees of heat during the day though.

I nixed the idea of the 360 vertical log, that's more appropriate where space isn't as much of a concern. I'll be splitting it in half.

Here are some updated pics and recent blooms.

Current lighting is via two 100w HLG sabers, dimmed to 50w each (tested with meter).

Nice! How do you water?

SADE2020 09-18-2021 12:11 AM

Very nice indeed!
Where is it placed in your house to have an idea ?

Steve83 09-18-2021 01:38 AM

Dorchid, I water 1-2 times a day with a 1/2 gal. sprayer. I use RO water, with a weak mix of K-Lite

Sade, it's in the office/spare bedroom of my apartment. So, it's able to provide a lot of distraction.

Thanks, Steve! I have everything potted and water with large volume pour throughs so don’t have anything mounted or hung. I’m going to give this a try! Also a tent grower.

It's been snowing pretty heavy, so I did the logical thing and broke out my finest selection of zip ties and wire to mount the two plants I picked up over the weekend.

I hope everyone else whom is snowed in is enjoying some blooms/fragrance.
