Hello From Mahwah NJ!!

:hello
Hello to all,
I am an amateur orchid enthusiast wishing to learn more. This is also my first forum ever!
I have a selection of orchids that have survived my eastern light exposure. I did have a few orchid species that didn't like my light/temps/conditions which i lost yet many have thrived and flowered! I have always had a green thumb and my interest in orchids began when I reestablished contact with one of my high school teachers who had a large dendrobium form which he gave me some and they grew and flowered! Now I have a small collection of various types.
I do have a store bought phal which I used keiki paste on and now the original spike has produced 3 keiki's and one of those has put out a spike while still on the mother plant! I wasn't sure when to separate them and never did. I have pictures to post and open for advice as to where to go from here. :hello

:waving Welcome to Orchidboard Dave!! :waving

Generally keikis can be separately once they have couple inches of root on them. Can be many short roots or 1-2 very long ones, in both cases there is enough root surface to support the plant.

Hi Dave:waving. Came from Montvale so I know your area. Things have changed in Bergen Co. as elsewhere but we orchid people gotta stick together. Joining OB was my first forum as well. New members always welcome.

Helloooooo from monmouth county! I hope neither you, nor your orchids, are catching frostbite up here in the icy north!

Actually, i guess the bigger worry this time of year is AC dryness

Dr. Dave 4u 02-07-2021 10:41 AM

Hi..!!
No worries here, my orchids are blooming amazingly!!!
So many pretty flowers on these gloomy snowy days...most amazing!
Thanks for wondering,
Dave:)
