Buying Cattleya with spots?
Hi all,
I reached out to SBOE and asked about a certain Cattleya that I've had trouble finding. Excitingly, they have one they can offer me, but it has a few spots, and I'm looking for advice on that before I spend a good bit of money on it. Images embedded here. They said it tested negative for CymMV/ORSV and the spots are likely just because the plant is kept in a glass greenhouse where the temperature can get into the 30s in the winter. The flower looks clean, besides a couple of brown patches on the edges. Do these spots look viral or something less worrisome? https://gatesdupont.com/images/IMG_2964.jpg https://gatesdupont.com/images/flower_photo.jpg |
Looks fine! Just got to have good air movement to avoid mold growing on the flower during blooming. Air movement is beneficial at all times.

Looks like a nice healthy plant.

Plant looks fine. Orchid leaves (like the rest of us) get blemishes. Nothing here that looks worrisome.

I don't see anything there that would stop me from buying it.
