Sometimes it takes a couple days for the fragrance to ramp up, and different plants will be fragrant at different times of the day.

That's a plus for orchids in general - quite long lasting flowers. I have never allowed my orchid flowers to become wet before - this includes no misting. This is not what happens in the wild though haha. My reason for myself avoiding the wetting of the flower is along the lines of cutting down on chances of marking or flower degradation due to water related effects. |
ha sorry
ha I did not mean to mist the flowers I meant that I would mist the roots:)

A general note about flower longevity I’ve seen is that the flowers last longest when the plant is kept where it is used to growing. Any big changes in growing conditions while a plant is in bloom tend to result in a shorter lifespan for the flowers.

Some Cattleyas require sun light to release their fragrance.
