Vanda Greg Scott

First time flowering, only two blooms - this is a Motes cross specifically Vanda tessellata 'Mary Motes' x merrillii 'Rotori'.
The flowers are very waxy with an intense fragrance - antiseptic and smoky. Vase culture - watered twice a week and roots spritzed the other days, fertilised every two weeks - grown in a south facing window with no additional lighting. |
Very nice, indeed!

So this year the plant threw three spikes. The blooms start off ruby red and then change to a olive brown colour.

Awesome. That must be some south facing window.

That is a fantastic looking Vanda, and nice to see the progress it made in one year! Congrats on the blooms, nice to see that natural light in the UK is sufficient to bloom a Vanda.
|
Nice! Makes me think I should try some of this vase culture myself!
