Oncidium and light levels

Hello, my firends

What's your experience about Onc and light?
My Onc bloomed the last two years (photo bellow) and it was outside but this year I kept it inside with less light and what it's doing is growing a new pbulb.

I'm almost sure this was cause by light levels.

I think I'm still on time to put it out and see what happens.

Last year's blooms

I put all of Oncidium tribe outdoors in summer, and slowly get them into as much light as they can possibly handle. They spend most of summer growing new pbulbs, etc. It appears to me they bloom better, but rarely do I get blooms on anything in summer months.

I do that now, and did with the ones I had/have when I first started expanding orchid collection in early 2000's. Went through a period of about four or five years where I kept them inside year 'round. They didn't seem to bloom as well. My reason for leaving inside at the time was the foliage gets much rattier looking when I leave outside all summer. Now I live with the rattier foliage, and more blooms.

Just my experience, under my care, in my climate.

I see some oncidium leaves on the web that appear to have been cut a couple of inches from the tip. Do Onc's tolerate leaves being cut/ just curious.
…...Ray mentioned my small plant might be a mule ear / standard dancing lady. Does anyone else who have Finally seen some of my photos, have a different idea,
.. I know there are many hundreds of different Oncs. I read some where 1000+ and several hundred, but I don't remember which was species and ? hybrids.

In terms of leaf cutting, sometimes excess minerals or other conditions will cause leaf tips to die and brown. For aesthetics, many vendors will trim these dead tips off.

Thanks Alice, I was wondering about that. In the nursery last Sunday, I saw huge Phals, beautiful blooms in14 white, but ugly Leaves cut back to the crown, and had white lines down the veins, which was the problem I panicked about in 5 of 13 mini and standard Phals. and took to be diagnosed. Pharmacy man, said in very little humidity in NM, I need to stop up the S/H holes in my clear pots, fill with flush and leave 5 to 10 minutes then drain and refill just to the holes in the pots.
