phal roots green and healthy except where they join plant

Hi there. Newbie here. title says it all. I will post pictures soon but i have searched all over ad found nothing about this. Roots are shrivelled, thin, miscolored above medium but healthy and green once they go underground!
#What to do?

Nothing. Carry on as-is.

Previously, something negatively affected the velamen, but as the roots grew, they recovered and are supporting the plant. The vascular bundle in the upper portion must be intact and functioning properly, so all is well.

Ray, ty very much for your speedy answer. Makes perfect sense. It's a slight bummer cos it is very unsightly but i guess we don't grow orchids for the roots!
